BTN Environmental
Educational Programs |
Back
to Natives has developed a series of Schoolyard Habitat
Garden programs for Kindergarten
through
6th Grade. Each program covers state standards
by introducing children to the wonder of nature, earth
systems and California native plants.
By using hands on interaction with plants and soil,
children learn of the interconnection between plants and
animals, and ultimately how humans are dependent on
both.

The Many Benefits to
Environmental Educational |
|
Research shows that environment-based education improves
students’ academic performance and test scores, reduces
discipline and attendance problems, and increases their
ability to transfer knowledge to new contexts. Research
and classroom based studies show that students in
experiential environmental education programs learn
better, are better citizens, and transfer their
knowledge to new situations better. Environment based
education helps students to feel more confidants, to
feel part of their community, and to think.
