BTN Dolphin and Whale Safari!
Looking for a unique gift to give your family or friends for the Holidays? Take them on Safari! Join Back to Natives on February 23 at 10AM for a 2.5 hour Dolphin and Whale Safari on a 35-foot Sailing Catamaran! We will be on the look out for Gray Whales, which will be migrating between Alaska and the lagoons of Baja between December and early May. Occasionally, safari participants get a special visit from Killer whales, Humpback whales, false Killer whales and Sperm whales! Dolphins are almost a guarantee, and participants have been known to witness pods of between 500 and 1000 dolphins at a time!
Captain Dave’s specially designed Catamaran will get you UP CLOSE to the dolphins, and whales. You can stay dry in the protected & comfortable cockpit area or venture out on the special 'Tram Net' for a really close encounter! You'll hear the unique languages of the dolphins and whales with a research-quality hydrophone. On the way home, we'll learn about the animals, and see Captain Dave’s collection of items from around the world, including whale baleen and teeth, vertebrae, fossils, and scale models of all the animals we see. You can touch these items and learn first-hand how these animals eat, sleep and live. And last, but not least, Mrs. Capt. Dave's famous triple fudge brownies on the ride back!
Purchase your tickets from Back to Natives now in time for the Holidays. Ticket sales benefit Back to Natives, a 501(c) 3 public benefit corporation. Proceeds go directly to providing environmental education programs for low income schools in Orange County.
Once we receive payment, we will send you gift certificate(s) to put under the tree. The catamaran only has space for 20 people, so buy your tickets ASAP!

Donations and Grants help to ensure that our programs and services for Education and Restoration will continue. Many schools lack the support and funding to allow children and classes to go on much needed outdoor education experience fieldtrips. BTN recognizes this and strives to provide exciting, interactive environmental education through native plant Habitat Gardens and supporting programs, all aligned with California State Content Standards, that travel TO the school. To be sure that our naturalists have the proper materials and supplies we ask that you donate towards specific programs to enable our schools to have a chance to learn about Natural Science and Biodiversity. Our mission: To encourage and actively participate in the restoration and conservation of Orange County and California wildlands, through education and restoration programs featuring native plants and biodiversity as a centralizing theme.
Through these educational programs we can begin to 'Save Habitat One Person at a Time!'

Native Plant Sales
Back to Natives Restoration encourages the use of Native Plants in landscaping to reduce water use, provide much needed habitat for butterflies and birds, reduce the use or even need for pesticides and herbicides, and most of all to beautify your yards and gardens!
To help facilitate this, BTN will be holding seasonal native plant sales for your shopping and gardening pleasure. Funds from these sales will go directly to funding environmental education programs, and habitat restoration projects.
Through these educational programs we can begin to 'Save Habitat One Person at a Time!'

Staff Salary and Overhead Non-Profit staff are percieved as volunteers by many. Although Non-Profits need volunteers to fulfill many of their goals and functions, core staff members are in fact paid employees at most Non-Profits. BTN wishes to provide competitive salaries and benefits for staff. You can help by assisting us to meet our Salary and Overhead needs. This will enable us to hire and retain qualified, highly educated, experienced and creative staff. |
Volunteer Appreciation and Retention Volunteers are the heart blood of most Non-Profits. To this end BTN wishes to thank one and all that have come out to our Volunteer Restoration Days and helped us make this planet a better place in our own backyard! Volunteers deserve recognition and our appreciation. Without them many of our projects would not have succeeded. If you would like to host a Volunteer Appreciation Dinner or BBQ, or even a Beach Day, let us know, we would be happy to put the word out!
